Nine categories moved on Sunday

Category totals for the full week as Yahoo has them, with the winner of each category highlighted. Sunday's four games flipped nine categories across four matchups and one result. GP is Yahoo's games played: every start on a day the player's team played, including the ones who sat. The team with more games won six of the seven matchups where the count differed. The exception was Tim. Stat corrections land Monday US time and could still move a decimal.

Bad beats and near misses

Kevin was not alone

Kenny · Zombie Sonics

Most points, wrong opponent

650 points, more than anyone, and totals that beat 10 of the 15 teams. He drew the one team that beat 14. Dan won REB, ST and BLK by distance and took it 6-3. AJ Dybantsa's 19-point debut came from the IL slot and counted for nothing.

Kim-Meng · KHANNNNNN....

One steal, on Sunday

Steals were 39 all going into Sunday. Brook Lopez, Frank's only player that day, picked off two. Kim-Meng's two had one between them. That turned a 3-5-1 into 3-6, in the week he spent $19 on his first three adds.

Justin · Voss Angeles Lukas

Luka did his part

Luka scored 123 points with 20 threes, second on the week's board. Everyone else on the team combined for 290. Justin's totals beat one team, Aaron's, and he has beaten three of 30 across two weeks. Naji Marshall, $21, has still not played a minute for him.

Tim's Sunday · Tim, Tim's Terrific Team

One point, one turnover

Tim v David · four games · eight players · Monday, Melbourne time

Tim had 43 games to David's 32 across the week, the biggest gap in the league, and still went into Sunday 4-5, seven points behind and five turnovers to the good. He had five players going, two of them fresh off the wire: Jamal Shead for $3 and Jarace Walker for $1, the last of his three adds for the week. David had three.

Anthony Black did the early work in Orlando, 23 points and 10 of 11 at the line, and Tim led PTS by three early in the fourth quarter there. Andrew Nembhard answered in Indianapolis with 23 of his own, and with 2:24 left in that game David was 20 clear.

The night games turned it around. De'Anthony Melton hit six threes in San Francisco, the last two from 27 and 29 feet with 1:16 and 39.5 seconds left, and at 2:52 pm Tim led by two. Six minutes later in LA, Sandro Mamukelashvili hit a 26-foot step-back three with 9:02 to play. 512 to 511.

The turnovers went the same way. Tim's five gave it away 12 times to David's six, and the one that flipped the category was Melton's, a lost ball in the third quarter. The steal went to Kris Dunn, Kenny's $28 pickup.

Keon Ellis started on Sunday and went 0 for 5 with a double dribble. Any one of those shots drops and Tim wins PTS. The two waiver adds gave him 15 points and three turnovers. He needed 17 points and no more than one turnover from them. Without them at all, Tim wins TO 58-60 and loses 4-5, not 3-6.

Lineup watch

Aaron left 88 on the bench

Games played from a bench or IL slot count for nothing. Most teams only benched someone when all ten starting slots already had a game. Aaron did not have that excuse.

Aaron · Wheelin & Dealin

Seven games on the bench

88 points, 12 threes and 11 steals sat on Aaron's bench, the most in the league by a distance. On Saturday Jaylen Brown (16, 4 and 4), Keyonte George and Jaylen Wells all played from the bench while only two of his starters had a game.

Kevin · KePang

Nine dead starts

Steven Adams, Maxime Raynaud and Egor Dëmin were ruled out nine times between them while sitting in starting slots. Kevin carries 13 players with an IL slot free, so he had room to add two without dropping anyone. He has made no moves this season.

Justin · Voss Angeles Lukas

Fixed it, mostly

After the copy-forward scare early in the week, Justin did not leave a single game on the bench. His four dead starts were Luka's Wednesday rest, Gui Santos's knee and Naji Marshall, twice.

Awards

Studs, duds and the one that got away

Player awards use nine-category value over the full week on Yahoo's numbers, counting games in a starting slot, with FG% and FT% weighted by volume.

Performer of the week

Victor Wembanyama

Massimobanyama · 3 games · 108 pts · 31 reb · 13 blk · 6 stl · 45 of 80

Top of the week's board, 43 of the points on Saturday. Jono's team blocked 48 shots, 34 more than Aaron's. Luka was a close second with 123 points, and like Maxey last week, his team lost.

Dud of the week

Rudy Gobert

Speaker For The DNP · pick 79 · 3 games · 15 pts on 4 of 20 · 7 of 13 FT

The 37 rebounds keep it from being a total loss. Wilson lost 2-7 and made the fewest threes in the league.

Dishonourable mentions: Damian Lillard (Kenny, pick 77) 14 of 42 from the field. Keaton Wagler (Kenny) 8 of 34. Ryan Rollins (Justin, pick 67) 13 of 39.

Steal of the draft, so far

De'Anthony Melton

Tim's Terrific Team · pick 197 · 24th for the season · 6 threes on Sunday

Taken 197th of 208 and ranked 24th through two weeks. His two late threes on Sunday put Tim ahead in PTS for six minutes.

Team of the week

Ant...Man...

603 pts · 266 reb · 49 stl · beat 14 of 15 on totals

Dan lost his first-round pick to knee surgery and renamed the team after him. Only Darren's totals beat his, 5-4. Two weeks in, Dan is 29-1 against the field.

Waiver hero

Moritz Wagner

Gs and Cs · $3 on 1 Nov · 14 pts · 6 reb · 1 blk

Claimed in the Sunday run, played that afternoon, and his one block made BLK 18-17. Without it, a tie and 5-3-1.

Waiver dud

Landry Shamet

Hart and Harper · $0 on 30 Oct · 0 pts on 0 of 3 · 2 TO

Eric cut Jakob Poeltl, his eighth-round pick, to make room. Poeltl had 12 and 11 that same night. Runner-up: Allen Graves, $4, three points and cut after two days.

The one that got away

Tristan da Silva

Cut by Jing on 1 Nov · 23 pts · 10 reb · 5 3PM that afternoon

Jing let him go for Wagner. Both played Sunday, and da Silva put up the bigger line for nobody. Quentin Grimes did the same to William: cut for Mo Bamba on Wednesday, then 23 points and 4 steals that night.

Turnover king

LaMelo Ball

Massimobanyama · 20 turnovers in 4 games · 7 on Monday

Jono lost TO 62-79 and won 7-2 anyway. Austin Reaves had 19 for William.

Glass eater

Giannis Antetokounmpo

Tim's Terrific Team · 50 reb in 3 games · 14, 18 and 18

Honourable mention to Moussa Diabaté, 46 boards for Dan. Justin cut him on 16 October.

Sharpshooter

Stephen Curry

At the Turn · 22 of 22 FT · 17 threes · 99 pts in 3 games

Perfect at the line, then rested on Sunday. Darren took FT% .837 to .755 and 3PM 77 to 52.

Dan's totals lost to one team, Darren's. Tim's and Kenny's beat 12 and 10 and both drew one of the few teams that beat them. David's beat five and he won 6-3. Across two weeks Dan is 29-1 against the field, Tim 26-4 and Justin 3-27. Lucky means a win while beating six or fewer teams on totals. Robbed means a loss while beating seven or more.

WTJ curse of the Big Man · David

15-0 per game

David played 32 games, tied for the fewest in the league, with Banchero, Ingram, Butler, Nurkić and Missi all out. Per game his team beat all 15 others, with the most points per game in the league. On totals it beat five.

Tim's Terrific Team · Tim

Plus 11 and still lost

43 games to 32, the biggest gap of the week. In the other seven matchups, the team with more games won six and the seventh was level. Tim's totals beat 12 teams; per game his team beat six.

Voss Angeles Lukas · Justin

0-15 per game

Joint last on totals and outright last per game, so it was not the schedule. Darren had five more games and did not need them.

GP counts every start on a day the player's team played, as Yahoo does, so starters who sat out still count. Sat out is how many of those starts produced nothing. Per game and Totals are records against all 15 teams.

Voss Angeles Lukas

413 points, 57 turnovers

Anthony Edwards

Ant...Man... · Dan · pick 8

Scored 47 on 19 of 34 in Cleveland on Monday, then had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee later in the week. Shams Charania reported he would miss up to two months, and ESPN's estimate has him back just before Christmas.

Dan renamed the team after him the same week and went 6-3 anyway. Terrence Shannon Jr. went to Kenny for $21 to fill the minutes, and Bones Hyland went to Ron for $4 on Sunday.

  • Kawhi LeonardZombie Sonics · KennyLeft knee swelling. The MRI found no structural damage, but Chris Haynes reported on Thursday that he will miss at least three to four weeks.
  • Tyrese HaliburtonSpeaker For The DNP · WilsonMild left hamstring strain after 22 points and 9 assists on Monday. Week to week, and Rick Carlisle said he is unlikely to play in the next two weeks.
  • Jaren Jackson Jr.At the Turn · DarrenTorn MCL in his right knee. Six to eight weeks, so mid-December at the earliest.
  • Chet HolmgrenChetGPT - Activated · RonRight knee. Did not play all week, and ESPN's injury list now has him out into early January. The team name has not been updated.
  • Cason WallaceTim's Terrific Team · TimTorn labrum in his left shoulder. Surgery, and most or all of the season.
  • Paolo BancheroWTJ curse of the Big Man · DavidHigh ankle sprain. Four to six weeks from last week's diagnosis.
  • Jalen DurenVoss Angeles Lukas · JustinRight hamstring strain. Re-evaluation due around 9 November.
  • Jalen SuggsSpeaker For The DNP · WilsonBone bruise in his right knee. At least two weeks.

Also out at the end of the week: Ivica Zubac (Eric, ankle, missed every game), Ja Morant (Tim, hamstring), Kon Knueppel (Frank, hamstring), Bradley Beal (Wilson, knee), Ziaire Williams (Jono, foot), Steven Adams and Maxime Raynaud (Kevin, calf and knee), Kristaps Porziņģis (Kevin, illness). Mitchell Robinson, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green sat out Sunday for rest. Jalen Williams, cut by Aaron on 27 October, needs surgery on a fractured fibula and dislocated ankle.

Grades weigh what each pickup produced for his new team against the bid and the player dropped to make room. Shamet and Graves fail on what they cost. Tim's Sunday pair lose marks because without them he wins TO. INC means no games yet. Market report

26 adds, $139

Wednesday's record $106 run, then $22 on Friday and $11 on Sunday. The season total is $266 across nine runs, and $10 of Sunday's $11 was above the next valid bid.

Kenny

$49 for 54 points

Dunn and Shannon cost half of Kenny's budget in one run and scored 54 between them in their first week. He is down to $43, last in the league.

Kevin

Zero moves, $100

Two weeks in: no adds, no drops, a full wallet and two open spots. KePang is 5-13 in categories.

Odds and ends

Things that happened

  • 47

Anthony Edwards' points on Monday in Cleveland, his last game before knee surgery.

  • 7

Steals by Kris Dunn on Sunday. One of them, off Melton, flipped Tim's turnovers to David.

  • 1-14

Justin, Eric and Aaron each beat one team on totals. Justin beat Aaron, Aaron beat Eric and Eric beat Justin.

  • 3-27

Justin's record against the field across two weeks. His actual category record is 8-10.

  • 9

Blocks by Kim-Meng's whole team. Wemby had 13 on his own.

  • 38

Darius Acuff Jr.'s points on Saturday, with nine threes. The kid from last week's Uncle's corner is taking more of them, and making them.

  • 19

Points in AJ Dybantsa's NBA debut on Wednesday, scored from Kenny's IL slot.

  • 1

Assist from a David player on a Tim basket. Desmond Bane fed Anthony Black in Orlando with 10:39 left in the second quarter.

  • 0

Minutes played for Justin by Naji Marshall, $21, since the day he was claimed.
